Radio Recap: Tonight the Top 10 Democrats Debate

Tonight, ten democrats will take the stage in Houston for the third presidential candidate debate.

Today on the show, we discussed tonight’s debate in Houston, Texas. It’s the first time we’re getting a single night debate now that the field of candidates has been whittled down to ten.

I think the two to watch tonight will be Joe Biden and Elizabeth Warren. It still seems like the Democrats believe Biden is their only real hope of beating President Trump, despite his many gaffs and faux pas.

As for Kamala Harris, will she maintain her aggressive routine, or has that run its course? As Dr. Harry Hutchison pointed out, her record is easily attacked and even she has great difficulty defending it, especially when it comes to criminal justice. Her record as District Attorney and Attorney General suggest she might actually be much too close to right for this new extreme left. 

Bernie Sanders just seems to have an uphill battle at this point.

Then you have the wild cards in Beto O’Rourke, Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Sen. Corey Booker, Andrew Yang, Julian Castro, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg. The latter of which is currently the mayor of South Bend, Indiana – ranked one of the worst cities in America. Buttigieg even had to step away from his campaign for a while to deal with racial tensions that have been plaguing his own city and police department. It’s unlikely the American people, even Democrats, will vote for him when he can’t get his own house in order. 

Jordan said he believes as many as 45% of Americans will vote for a Democrat, whichever one gets the nomination. One of the ten candidates in the debate tonight is going to challenge President Trump and receive a large portion of the vote in November 2020. Republicans have to be prepared to double-down and increase efforts to keep control of the White House.

We put it out to any Democrats that might be listening: who do you think is the best candidate to take on President Trump? We weren’t looking to argue politics, but truly get a read on what actual Democrats are thinking and who they are leaning toward.

We also discussed a win for President Trump and our national security, as the Supreme Court overturned an injunction against the President’s new policy that denies asylum to any migrants who come seeking protection in the U.S. but passed through other safe countries first and did not seek asylum there. If you’re really in danger, you don’t pick and choose where you want go. You run to the first safe place you reach and apply for asylum there.
