America’s Necessary Stand Against the Chinese Communist Party

The bold tariffs President Trump unveiled on China this week mark a decisive pivot in our approach to the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) decades of economic aggression against America. Make no mistake - this is long overdue.

The Chinese Communist Party has systematically ripped off the United States and exploited our open markets with impunity. They have orchestrated the largest transfer of intellectual property theft in human history, deliberately hollowed out America’s manufacturing base, and incorporated forced labor into supply chains that American companies depend on. These aren’t accusations – these are documented facts that the previous Administration witnessed firsthand and did virtually nothing about.  They have used tariffs we pay to fuel the rapid growth of their military and to exert control over countries across the globe with the Belt and Road Initiative.

These tariffs on China serve multiple objectives, but chief among them is America’s national security. Today, China grows increasingly authoritarian internally while projecting hostility to freedom wherever its influence reaches. President Trump’s decisive action sends a clear message to Beijing: This ends now.

We must fundamentally change how Americans and our allies perceive the CCP. Honesty is required. This isn’t a normal government operating by international norms - it’s a communist regime that views economic relationships as a zero-sum game with America.  They are our adversary, not a mere trading partner.

Consider the fundamental difference in worldviews: Free nations view agreements as binding commitments, while Beijing treats them merely as tactical tools to advance its dominance. These new tariffs demand accountability by imposing real economic consequences for intellectual property theft and unfair trade practices that have devastated American workers and communities across our heartland.

The moment for action has arrived. Every freedom-loving nation must act to protect its sovereignty, prosperity, and values from Beijing’s malign influence. However, essential principles must guide our approach: Demand reciprocity, transparency, and accountability from the CCP at every turn.

For too many years, Beijing has dictated the terms of our relationship while politicians in Washington refused to act. That era has ended. America must lead democratic nations in establishing clear boundaries that cannot be erased through economic intimidation or diplomatic pressure from the CCP.

This path carries challenges. Smaller countries fear economic retaliation if they stand with us. Even some of our closest allies hesitate to confront Beijing’s predatory behavior. Such hesitation only invites further aggression and ultimately ensures failure.

Defending our freedoms against the Chinese Communist Party represents the central challenge of our generation. America is uniquely positioned to lead this effort, and President Trump is right to act boldly where others have faltered.

The threat has never been clearer. America has taken a consequential step forward. The question now is: Who will join us in this essential stand for freedom?
