More investigative irregularities have been uncovered at the FBI.

Today on the show we discussed a new New York Times story exposing a counterintelligence investigation by the Deep State FBI targeting the President. Let me clarify: not the President-elect as we’ve discussed before.

This was another counterintelligence investigation, against sitting President Trump, after the firing of James Comey.

The article states:

In the days after President Trump fired James B. Comey as F.B.I. director, law enforcement officials became so concerned by the president’s behavior that they began investigating whether he had been working on behalf of Russia against American interests, according to former law enforcement officials and others familiar with the investigation.

This raises serious issues in a history of problematic behavior within the FBI.

This investigation came at about the same time that former FBI agent Peter Strzok expressed hesitance to investigate then incoming President Trump as part of the Russia investigation because, as he texted: “there’s no big ‘there’ there.”

If the agent leading the investigation said there’s nothing to the investigation, why then open this counterintelligence investigation?

Is it that the firing of James Comey – something clearly under his Article II powers – justified the opening of the a counterintelligence investigation?

The rational, at least according to the New York Times piece, was that if he fired Comey it got the FBI nervous that he could be a Russian agent. It’s that absurd.

What is this doing to the reputation of the FBI?

At the ACLJ, we’ve had experience with FBI investigative irregularities. We previously filed a FOIA request asking the government to comply with federal law to produce documents about potential corruption at both the DOJ and FBI in a high-profile investigation of a political candidate.

First the FBI said it found absolutely no documents pertinent to our FOIA request. We then received documents from the DOJ in a similar FOIA showing communications between FBI officials about the very issue.

When faced with the truth, the FBI did conduct another search, after we had to file a lawsuit to force them to produce documents. They then produced a few documents and we had to take them back to court to challenge their search. Finally, on its third attempt – after the FBI admitted it hadn’t searched its own Central Records System – it produced several more documents, including texts, but many were so heavily redacted, they were practically just blank pages.

It’s a sad commentary when you can’t trust the FBI to follow the rule of law.

Next week, we’re heading back to court against the FBI Deep State, and we’re preparing a major appeal in our case. We are getting to the bottom of this.
