A major development has come to light regarding the Inspector General’s report on FISA abuse.
On today’s broadcast we discussed news that reluctant witnesses in the FISA (Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act) abuse probe are now agreeing to come forward and speak to the Department of Justice (DOJ) Inspector General Michael Horowitz.
According to Fox News:
Key witnesses sought for questioning by Justice Department Inspector General Michael E. Horowitz early in his investigation into alleged government surveillance abuse have come forward at the 11th hour, Fox News has learned.
Sources familiar with the matter said at least one witness outside the Justice Department and FBI started cooperating – a breakthrough that came after Attorney General William Barr ordered U.S. Attorney John Durham to lead a separate investigation into the origins of the bureau’s 2016 Russia case that laid the foundation for Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s probe.
These were witnesses Horowitz sought for questioning early in the investigation into alleged government surveillance abuse, but only now, in what appears to be the 11th hour as the Inspector General’s report is almost complete, are willing to cooperate.
The investigation into the origins of the “Crossfire Hurricane” investigation is highly necessary as it directly links to the Russia collusion investigation against President Trump. DOJ and FBI officials conspired against a United States citizen.
If the FISA warrant was based on the spurious Steele Dossier, then it was an illegitimate investigation and based on willful deception.
The Inspector General was reportedly already done or nearly done with his investigation and was preparing his report. So as Jordan asked, why are multiple witnesses coming forward and wanting to testify now?
We all agreed the most likely answer is fear. Fear of indictment. Fear of prosecution.
President Trump vowed early on that he would drain the D.C. swamp, and now some of the swamp denizens are finally coming forward, seemingly to save their own skins.
We may not get the Inspector General’s report until the fall at this point, but one thing seems certain: the truth about what started this entire mess is going to come out. Make no mistake, people will be held accountable.
