House Intel Chairman Adam Schiff’s lie about whistleblower contact has been exposed.
On today’s show we discussed the fact that Adam Schiff’s statement regarding contact with the whistleblower was totally false.
On September 17th, Rep. Schiff (D-CA) made a statement saying that his staff and he had no previous contact with the whistleblower. In fact he was emphatic about that.
Here’s the exchange that occurred on September 17th with interviewer Sam Stein:
SAM STEIN [MSNBC, 09/17/2019] -- Have you heard from the whistleblower? Do you want to hear from the whistleblower? What protections could you provide to the whistleblower? And then you also said that the DNI’s refusing to turn over this stuff citing a request from a higher authority. The insinuation left, at least for me and others, was that the President himself had intervened. Is that the insinuation you sought to provide, and if so, what basis do you have for making that insinuation?
REP. ADAM SCHIFF (D-CA) -- We have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. We would like to.
However, New York Times had a piece out yesterday reporting that:
“Representative Adam B. Schiff of California, learned about the outlines of a C.I.A. officer’s concerns that President Trump had abused his power days before the officer filed a whistle-blower complaint.”
It is clear that his September 17th statement is a completely false. He is the Chairman of the House Intel Committee and the one calling for the impeachment of the President based on the Ukraine conversation. This same Congressman who we told you last week read a false transcript in a hearing to try to incriminate the President, now said he had no conversations with the whistleblower when his team had spoken to the whistleblower a month before.
As ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett shed light on what exactly Rep. Schiff was saying when he said “we” haven’t had contact with the whistleblower:
“We means anyone associated with the Committee. I worked for a member of Congress for years including doing his committee work. If a staff member on that committee gets access to information, both their response and their ability to respond to that information reflects directly on the member. It is in fact an action of the Member.
The idea that a committee aide could have this contact and then the committee Chairman could say that we haven’t had any contact with him, there’s really only one word to for it, and I’m comfortable saying it – it’s a lie.
I will tell you this though, I think I know the reason why he said it. Because under Rule 14 of the House Intelligence Committee, if he has access to sensitive information like this, then he has to share it with every member of the committee, including the minority.”
I think there are many significant issues to uncover here. What kind of correspondence exists between Adam Schiff’s office and the whistleblower’s attorney? What information went to other individuals? What’s really going on here and how deep does it go?
ACLJ Senior Counsel and Director Policy Harry Hutchison made a very good point when he said:
“Adam Schiff’s shiftiness and duplicity has caught up with him, once again. On September the 17th, 2019 he claimed that ‘we’ have not spoken directly with the whistleblower. This is clearly and unmistakably untrue.
They have a particular narrative and it looks like the Democrats had participated in the creation of the narrative by talking to the whistleblower before he issued his complaint. It is entirely possibly that they have helped craft the complaint.”
To say this is unusual is an understatement. All the layers need to be exposed.
