The crisis on the southern border is back.

Today on Sekulow, we discuss Biden’s crisis at the border.  President Trump's policies eliminated the crisis. But the Biden Administration quickly undid those policies, and has now resurrected the crisis at the United States-Mexico border – increasing the attempted illegal crossings at the border by more than 700%.

Think about this. Under President Trump, illegal border crossings decreased to a record low of an average of 832 a day for the entire year of 2017. In President Joe Biden’s first six weeks in office, the number of illegal immigrant border crossings has increased to over 6,000 a day.

Back in 2019, President Obama’s former Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson attacked President Trump saying that his policies were not really working because he considered 1,000 crossing a day to be a crisis. Right now, in the first six weeks of the Biden Administration, they are saying 6,000 daily crossing is not a crisis.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was asked the following during a press briefing last week:

Is the President going to be briefed on this from the Domestic Policy Council?  Today, DHS assessing 117-or-so thousand unaccompanied children.  117,000 unaccompanied children will arrive in the U.S., by their projection, this year.  Will he learn about it today?  And that number seems like a crisis.  The Secretary said it isn’t.  How would we define a crisis?

She responded with:

Well, I’ll leave that to the Secretary of Homeland Security to define.  He said it was a “challenge.”  It is a challenge.

So they don’t want to call it a crisis, but a challenge instead. Semantics aside, a challenge is still not a good thing when caused by bad policies. This challenge, which in reality is indeed a crisis, could have been avoided if President Biden didn’t buy into the political rhetoric of the far Left and institute their policies.

We didn’t have to have this crisis. Now the border is overwhelmed. This is very much an example of the consequences of bad Executive actions taken by President Biden from the start of his Administration.

President Biden halted construction of the southern border wall, ended President Trump’s travel bans, signed Executive orders raising the limit on asylum applications, and began the implementation of new guidelines for ICE agents that make it harder to do their jobs.

This crisis is the creation of the Biden Administration’s bad policies and they own the results.

The full broadcast is complete with much more analysis and discussion by our team of Biden’s crisis at the southern border. We were also joined by former Secretary of State and ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo. You won’t want to miss that conversation.
