Karine Jean-Pierre will be replacing current White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki as the President’s spokesperson on May 13th. This replacement comes with skepticism though as Karine has openly criticized a bipartisan pro-Israel group and even went as far to encourage Democrats to boycott the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) in 2019:

AIPAC is not progressive. . . . Unfortunately, AIPAC’s policy and conference speaker choices aren’t its only problems. It’s severely racist, Islamophobic rhetoric has proven just as alarming. The organization has become known for trafficking, anti-Muslim and anti-Arab rhetoric while lifting up Islamophobic voices and attitudes. . . . This history along with clear momentum created the right moment to call on Democratic candidates to skip AIPAC.

ACLJ Senior Counsel Jeff Ballabon countered this statement:

AIPAC, I think certainly by many standards is set to lean over very, very far . . . to be bipartisan to the degree that often it will push hard against two aggressive moves that are pro-Israel if somehow that will get in the way of Democrat support. AIPAC has long been very friendly with Democrats. She claims that APAC is partisan. . . . AIPAC is at best a centrist organization, I would say it’s leaning left.

Jeff added:

They have moved into what they call the “Overton window,” the window of what is reasonable discussion so hard Left that it is completely unrecognizable. By the way . . . within a month or two of that piece she wrote slandering Israel, her organization made their first political endorsement in the election. Do you know who they were? Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib – people who are known for their deeply antisemitic . . . rhetoric and incitement. . . . This is a deep symptom of a deep problem that people thought that oh well the party the Democrats have too many. . . extremes on the Left, but it’s okay because Joe Biden is a moderate. Well, it looks like there are key parts in their Administration that are pushing extremists.

The Biden Administration has not only nominated someone who openly criticized a pro-Israel group to be the spokesperson for the United States, but also has nominated Nina Jankowicz, who has an extreme partisan history as the new Disinformation Governance Board Executive Director.

We’ve already filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to get to the bottom of the creation of this board. States are starting to take action too. The attorneys general of Missouri and Louisiana have filed a lawsuit against the Biden Administration for a range of topics dealing with government officials reportedly colluding with various social media platforms to control free speech.

ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and Foreign Policy and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell gave his take on this lawsuit and the issue of free speech:

Let’s be clear that there is this system now where Big Tech, Washington D.C., press, newsrooms, and the Democrats all have a narrative. And disinformation means dissenting information, dissenting from the official Washington, D.C. line. It is very dangerous. This is what third world countries do. It’s when they don’t like the information, when it’s dissenting, when it’s different than what they want, then they label it bad information or a threat to democracy. It is really a threat to their power. So, we need to push back on this disinformation, dissenting information is really what it is. Thank God we have ACLJ. . . . immediately filing these FOIA requests. For people to understand, if you don’t have a legal challenge immediately like a FOIA request, then you don’t get anything done. You can talk about these issues in the media . . . but unless you really take them legally on, you just don’t get stuff done. So, I’m really thankful ACLJ is so quick to push back, and hopefully people recognize that we need support for that.

At the ACLJ, we are involved in a host of issues on any given day. We are not only fighting the Biden Administration’s Governance Board that would inevitably target conservatives, but we are also fighting for Asian students who are being targeted by institutions of higher learning because of race. We’ve filed an amicus brief in a case before the Supreme Court that would prevent institutions from this practice.

ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchison explained the evolution behind these institutions:

So, if you look at the history, you find that Thomas Jefferson favored a natural aristocracy based on virtue. We now live in an era that favors what might be called technocratic merit that now has fueled the greatest transfer from the middle class to wealthy elites in American history. Now elite schools seem unwilling to share their wealth with Asian American students in particular, and they have instituted so-called preferential programs which actually discriminate against Asian students in an attempt to unjustly deny them prestige like other elite students.

We will continue to monitor and update you on all of our legal work as it arises.

Today’s full Sekulow broadcast is complete with even further in-depth analysis of the new Press Secretary, the DHS’s Disinformation Board, and higher learning institutions targeting Asian students in the application process.
