Israelis have gone to the polls again and the election has so far led to a deadlock. We have a live report from our team from the ACLJ in Jerusalem who actually voted in the election. And President Trump has increased sanctions on Iran.
Today on the show we discussed the snap election in Israel, where we do not have official results. As of now it appears to be a deadlock between current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party and contender Benny Gantz of the Blue and White party.
What’s interesting is in the past Netanyahu has been able to rely on the religious groups to join his party. If all those religious parties joined him today, Netanyahu would be at 56. He needs 61 to hold his seat.
Israel’s former Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman – head of the influential Yisrael Beiteinu party which holds 9 seats – has said that because of the division in the country, the only thing he would support is a secular unity government between Likud and the Blue and White parties.
Even if the two agreed to some form of unity government, who would be the Prime Minister? It’s not impossible of course, but some major deals would have to be made for Benjamin Netanyahu to remain Israel’s PM.
We also had ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil in the studio to update you on another international situation unravelling right now in New Zealand, where legislation similar to the barbaric abortion law that was passed in New York earlier this year has been introduced that would decriminalize abortion up to the moment of birth.
This new legislation also removes conscience protections for medical workers. In other words, if this bill is passed, doctors and nurses who object to these horrific late term abortions can be fired.
Fortunately in this instance we have an opportunity to speak up on behalf of these defenseless unborn babies. New Zealand accepts outside comments when considering new legislation.
The ACLJ is filing legal comments TODAY telling them that allowing abortions up to the moment of birth is just wrong. It’s simply immoral. And not only are we submitting comments, but we’re asking you to submit your own comments as well. We’ve added the link to submit comments to the New Zealand Parliament to our blog at ACLJ.org where you can submit comments either using pre-written text we’ve prepared for you, or just writing your own.
Just keep in mind, there is a major time difference in New Zealand as they are nearly a day ahead of the United States. We need you to submit your comments by the end of today – the sooner the better.
If this bill passes, New Zealand will join seven nations in the world that allow abortions after 20 weeks. It saddens me to say, but the U.S. is on that list. But we are fighting to get off it, and will fight to keep other countries from joining the list wherever we can. We have to protect innocent babies everywhere.
You can also add your name to our comments by signing the petition at the bottom of this post.
And finally, we told you about President Trump’s promise of increased sanctions on Iran following the attack on the oil facilities in Saudi Arabia. Yesterday while he didn’t specify what exactly the sanctions will be, the President tweeted:
I have just instructed the Secretary of the Treasury to substantially increase Sanctions on the country of Iran!
Iran continues to deny their involvement, but the evidence points to the contrary. What is clear to me is that President Trump is trying everything he can to hold Iran accountable without initiating war, if he can prevent it.
You can listen to the entire episode here.
As we aggressively take legal action to defeat barbaric abortion laws and defend life, your gift today could help us save lives.
Over the last few years, you have probably seen some version of the following set of claims, often used during the height of a conflict to justify terrorist actions in order to make murder understandable, if not acceptable: Israel is an illegal occupier, practicing apartheid, and — as if that...
We have just taken major action in defense of Israel’s interests through our international affiliate, the European Centre for Law and Justice (ECLJ) once again before the United Nations Human Rights Council (HRC), a body known for its anti-Israel bias . This time not only did we defend Israel, but...
It seems as though everything the new Biden Administration is doing in the Middle East is dedicated to harming Israel: empowering a nuclear Iran; rolling back the historic achievements of the Abraham Accords; and rewarding the intransigent, corrupt leadership of those who seek to wipe Israel off...
The Biden Administration is doubling down on efforts to provide aid to the Palestinian Authority (PA) after a ceasefire from the conflict that began because Hamas – whose members receive funding from the PA – launched rockets at Israel for 11 days straight. Secretary of State Antony Blinken...
