Radio Recap: Iran Directly Attacks Saudi Arabia. U.S. “Locked and Loaded”
In breaking news, Iran directly attacked Saudi Arabia, and according to President Trump, the U.S. is “locked and loaded.”
On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we discussed an attack Saturday on a Saudi oil facility, drastically affecting oil output. It was initially believed to be a drone attack by the Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen. It has since come to light that this attack does not appear to have emanated out of Yemen. It appears to have come directly out of Iran.
As reported in the Wall Street Journal, Iran was the staging ground for these strikes:
American officials say intelligence indicates that Iran was the staging ground for a debilitating attack on Saudi Arabia’s oil industry, and have shared the information with Saudi Arabia as both countries weigh retaliatory strikes, according to people familiar with the discussions.
President Trump immediately tweeted that the U.S. is prepared to take action in retaliation for this attack:
Saudi Arabia oil supply was attacked. There is reason to believe that we know the culprit, are locked and loaded depending on verification, but are waiting to hear from the Kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack, and under what terms we would proceed!
As I mentioned, President Trump is not a President who is looking for a war with Iran. But Iran has taken things to a new level, and we must reason in kind. Saudi Arabia is our ally. They allow us to have military bases on Saudi soil. And these attacks do affect the U.S. as well. They will have a detrimental impact on the global economy. Here at home we can expect the price of gas rising, affecting all working Americans.
As U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry put it, this was “a deliberate attack on the global economy and the global energy market.”
If Iran was behind these attacks, we cannot not just sit back and not respond. As Prof. Harry Hutchison pointed out, if there is no retaliation, Iran will likely continue and expand such attacks. Historically, Iran tends to cave when the west responds.
As Col. Wes Smith said on the show, sometimes, unfortunately, a show of military force is the only language Iran understands.
