If you show weakness in the Middle East, evil thrives. If you show strength, it withdraws. The President and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo are reasserting the strength of the United States against terror.

On today’s broadcast, we discussed Sec. Pompeo’s speech in Cairo, Egypt yesterday. Sec. Pompeo was rightly critical of previous U.S. policies and words in the middle east, stating “another American . . . told you that radical Islamist terrorism does not stem from ideology.”

Pompeo’s speech was a stark and welcome contrast to the Obama administration’s policy of retreating in the face of terror and apologizing to terrorist-sponsoring nations like Iran for U.S. efforts to fight terrorism.

The Secretary of State addressed how President Obama’s words in Cairo caused chaos in the middle east.

“He told you that 9/11 led my country to abandon its ideals, particularly in the Middle East,” he said at the American University in Cairo. “He told you that the United States and the Muslim world needed ‘a new beginning.’ The results of these misjudgments have been dire.”

Sec. Pompeo succinctly pointed out that the U.S. under President Trump seeks to repair relations in the Middle East, the proper way, without heaping blame on our own heads. He also highlighted the similarities we share, calling us all “Children of Abraham.”

Secretary Pompeo respectfully called on our allies in the Middle East, such as Egypt, to work with the U.S. and do more to condemn and destroy terrorist organizations that have sought to divide us, for the good of all nations.

Sec. Pompeo also made a point to remind the world of the strength and resolve of the United States of America.

“Our aim is to partner with our friends and vigorously oppose our enemies, because a strong, secure, and economically viable Middle East is in our national interest – and yours,” he said. “Let me be clear: America will not retreat until the terror fight is over.”
