We are in Day 5 of the government shutdown, with no end currently in sight.

Today on the broadcast, we discussed President Trump’s continued fight to get the necessary funding for border security along our southern border.

The Left, which once supported tightening up our borders, have dug their heels in, refusing to fund the proposed border wall, even at the cost of shutting down a portion of the government.

As I’ve pointed out before, 75% of the government is already fully funded. Only non-essential government agencies and personnel are affected by this shutdown.

The Left is using this as a way to attack President Trump for halting the government. Yet it is Congress that is refusing to do their jobs – to fund the government AND protect our national security.

It’s simply more political gamesmanship by the Senate Minority which refuses to cooperate – or even compromise – with the President – even if it means putting our national security at risk.

President Trump stated repeatedly he was not afraid of a government shutdown. And it appears his supporters are standing behind him, demanding we shore up our southern border.

Congress returns to Washington tomorrow. The question is are both Democrats and Republicans willing to negotiate a reasonable conclusion to this shutdown now, and will it result in full-funding for border security?

Or will Democrats continue to stall, to the detriment of the American people, until January 3rd when they take control of the House?

If that ends up happening, an agreement that results in the full $5 billion seems far less likely, despite the fact that Americans want and need this wall.

I hope that the Senate will be willing to do its job and get a deal done this week.
