Radio Recap – Game Changer: The Top Iranian Terrorist Eliminated

No more hostage crisis situation. No more “Benghazis.” President Trump ordered an airstrike against the top Iranian terrorist commander yesterday.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live we discussed how under President Trump the U.S. has changed the rules of engagement and unleashed America’s armed forces, and that means the enemies that are still alive should be terrified. The President will not let America lead from behind.

Major-General Qassem Soleimani, the lead Iranian terrorist, is dead.

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said today:

The American people should know that President Trump’s decision to remove Soleimani from the battlefield saved American lives. There’s no doubt about that. He was actively plotting in the region, a big action as he described it that would’ve put dozens if not hundreds of American lives at risk.

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise joined us on the show today. Here’s his reaction on the move by President Trump to take out the Quds Force for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard:

What President Trump did to lead this mission to take out Soleimani is a major strike against terrorism around the world. I mean, Soleimani was one of the most brutal terrorists that we’ve seen . . . he’s literally right up there with al-Baghdadi, and has committed terrorist attacks that rival Osama Bin Laden in terms of hundreds of Americans that he’s been directly responsible for killing, as well as thousands around the world.

This guy was one of the most brutal terrorists, was plotting other attacks against America. President Trump said we’re not going to take this, and led this effort. Which I commend the President on doing because other presidents for whatever reason, we just never confronted this brutal terrorist, and now he’s gone. He’s taken out and won’t be able to kill innocent lives any more.

Secretary Pompeo said that not only were there more attacks being planned, we know that Soleimani was heading this new paramilitary-style Hezbollah group in Iraq which copied what he helped to create in Lebanon. He was directly responsible for 17%  of all deaths of U.S. personnel in Iraq from 2003-2011 and he had a UN Security Council ban on that said that he could not leave Iran.

But Soleimani defied the ban and left Iran. I believe the President was absolutely legally justified because of that Security Council resolution. The moment he stepped off that aircraft in Baghdad in Iraq, he was violating the UN Security Council resolution and could be taken out.

Congressman Scalise also said on the show:

The strong action that President Trump took saved countless more American lives as well as innocent lives around the world. What Soleimani had been doing in Iraq was similar to what he had been doing in other countries. He was undermining Iraq and there are people in Iraq like there are in Iran, who seek freedom and they are shut down by their government. They’re killed by their government many times over. And so, what you do by taking him out is you send a message to other brutal terrorists and to the Iran regime that we’re not going to sit by and let them commit acts of terrorism and attack America.
