Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security Kirstjen Nielsen just described the crisis at our southern border perfectly: a CAT 5 level hurricane disaster. And yet Congress refuses to act in the face of the approaching storm.

Today on the broadcast, we discussed the actions of President Trump to defend our border and assist our Border Patrol and Immigration Officials as Congress sits by and does absolutely nothing.

Yesterday, DHS Secretary Nielsen described the current priority of the Trump Administration to deal with this problem head on, and pointed out the inaction of Congress:

In my opinion right now this is one of, if not the biggest crisis this country has faced in a decade . . . the security aspects of this, the humanitarian aspects of this have got to be addressed . . . we have announced today that we’re now treating this like a massive CAT 5 hurricane disaster. We are bringing all of the inner agency together. We’re asking everybody to chip in. We need to surge down as many resources as we can to the border. But Congress needs to look at this as a hurricane too. Right?

Where is the supplemental? Where are the additional authorities? . . . I’m in constant contact with the acting Secretary of Defense. I talked to some of the combatant commanders today. We are, in fact, pushing more and more military resources to the border. And that’s what’s required.”

We couldn’t agree more. There is absolutely a crisis at our border. Not only has the President said, but as we just reported yesterday, former officials from prior Democrat administrations have said it too.  Congress needs to come to the table and work with the White House to act quickly and expediently to secure our border, before this “hurricane” proves disastrous.

We also updated you on the monumental Title X issue defunding Planned Parenthood. You can read more of what I called a critical moment for life here.

Finally, we talked about the current plight of Christian Pastor John Cao – a U.S. permanent resident from North Carolina – currently wrongfully imprisoned in China. Pastor Caos has been sentenced to 7 years because of his Christian faith. We’re working with the highest levels of government, including President Trump who is fully engaged, as well as the U.N. to free Pastor Cao and bring him home to his family.
