Radio Recap: President Trump: “How Much More American Blood Must We Shed…”

“How much more American blood must we shed before Congress does its job?” That was the question President Trump posed to the American people last night.

Today on the show, we discussed the President’s address to the nation last night. The President laid out the case from the Oval Office for taking action along our southern border with Mexico.

Last night we witnessed a President very much in touch with the concerns of the American people, and we saw Democratic leaders, in an almost farcical address, prove how very out of touch they are.

The President took the case to the American people, putting pressure on the Left in Congress to do the right thing for America and protect our national security.

President Trump is showing he wants to work with Congress to get the border secured. If they continue to refuse, he may have no other recourse but to declare a national emergency.

And contrary to critics, he has the authority. In fact this wouldn’t be the first time a President has done so.

We’ve found a similar instance in which President Bill Clinton declared a national emergency to deal with the drug epidemic. That authority also allows a President to build a barrier to stem the flow of drugs and contraband into the country.

Deadly drugs like heroin, cocaine, meth, and fentanyl are pouring in over the border. As the President stated, more Americans will die from drugs this year than during the entire Vietnam War. Human beings – women and children – are being smuggled into this country to be sold into modern-day slavery, and worse.

This is not only a crisis; it’s a desperate humanitarian crisis.

If Congress continues to deny reality and refuses to take action to stop it, then it is up to us. 

Right now I have a team of lawyers drafting our legal arguments in defense of enhanced border security.

We have to end this political logjam. We must end the crisis at the border.
