The death toll in Sri Lanka has now reached 325 innocent victims after the deadly terrorist attacks targeting Christians on Easter Sunday. Confirming most speculation, ISIS has now officially claimed responsibility.

Today on the show, we discussed a variety of topics, first and foremost being a statement posted on Twitter by the Islamic State in which in claimed full responsibility for the attacks. In an official statement from Amaq, the Islamic State’s news agency, the bombers were referred to as “fighters with the Islamic State.”

It also claimed responsibility in a tweet and gave some indication as to why:

"Allahu Akbar! Islamic State claims responsibility for Sri Lanka attacks

Next time think twice before you target a masjid [mosque] Oh Cross Worshippers”

It seems that this horrific attack was some kind of twisted retribution for the unrelated attack on a mosque in New Zealand.

We also updated you on our ongoing fight to save innocent babies and defund taxpayer supported Planned Parenthood. We filed a critical brief in major hearing scheduled today which could be a key moment in the battle for life.

And tomorrow our legal team will be in federal court defending pro-life advocates who we’ve told you are facing possible criminal charges for speaking in front of abortion clinics, including Planned Parenthood. An ordinance in Iowa is being misused to prosecute pro-life workers by calling them “disruptive.” We’re arguing that these pro-life advocates are simply exercising their right to free speech.

We also discussed a key Supreme Court hearing held today. The point of a census is simply to collect information on who is in our country. But a recent census question has ended up at the Supreme Court because critics say it is offensive for asking of people living in your home: “Is this person a citizen of the United States?” Some critics have said it might make illegal immigrants uncomfortable.

I posed the question to the audience: do you find this question controversial? Should we be more concerned about the feelings of illegal immigrants over collecting information about legal citizens?

Finally, we discussed a puzzling statement during a CNN town hall last night by presidential hopeful and self-described socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders, who stated that he is in favor of allowing convicted felons to vote, even while incarcerated and serving their sentences. When pressed, Sen. Sanders said he even felt that the convicted Boston Marathon bomber – Dzhokhar Tsarnaev – should be allowed to vote.

When asked the same question, Sen. Kamala Harris said she would allow convicted fellons to vote but would not go as far as taking a firm position on allowing them to vote while they are still in prison. She said she thinks we should “have that conversation.” What conversation will justify giving the power to vote to violent criminals, including sexual predators?
