The ACLJ is preparing to fight for life in two of the biggest abortion cases in decades at the Supreme Court. Just a week from today, November 1st, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments on the merits of the case out of Texas that bans abortion after the six-week mark, or when the heartbeat is detected. Then just a month later on December 1st, the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case will be heard, which is a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade. This is a very crucial time in history for the fate of countless unborn babies.

ACLJ Senior Counsel CeCe Heil explained how the ACLJ is directly engaged in both of these cases:

It’s an interesting time for the abortion question in our country. . . . We have an oral argument in . . . both of those cases. The one that came from the DOJ and then the one that came from abortion providers will be heard next Monday. Then the Dobbs case will be heard December 1st. So we are engaged in both of those cases. . . . With the Texas case, we are filing an amicus brief, supporting Texas, stating that federal courts are courts of limited jurisdiction and pointing out that these cases are not properly before the Supreme Court to decide at this time.

We’ve already filed three Supreme Court briefs in the Dobbs case. And we are preparing to file an amicus brief in the Texas case. ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchison pointed out how the Supreme Court Justices have two chances to finally correct Roe v Wade

So, over the next several weeks, we will see or should see very important developments at the United States Supreme Court. On one level the issue will be jurisdictional. Do the plaintiffs, the abortion providers, have standing for instance to challenge the Texas law? With the Dobbs case . . . the key question is the core question, which is a merits decision on the viability of Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. I think if the Supreme Court has the courage and has the spine, they will overturn Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey. . . . The Supreme Court clearly went too far in Planned Parenthood v. Casey, and they went too far in Roe v. Wade, and if they reverse both cases, the abortion issue would go back to the states and then the states could decide. That is where these issues should in fact be decided. So, hopefully the Supreme Court is prepared to stiffen its spine and do the right thing.

Things are changing quickly under the Biden Administration. The pro-life movement is not the only issue rapidly changing. Our relations with countries around the world are changing overnight. In the past 24 hours, after Sudan broke free from al-Bashir when he was arrested, only to then immediately have the military come back in and take control. ACLJ Senior Advisor for National Security and former Acting Director of National Intelligence Ric Grenell discussed the foreign policy failures in his new article and added how this is a result of the lack of leadership by the Biden Administration:

Add Sudan to the very long list of the countries that have been directly impacted by the lack of leadership by Joe Biden. We can’t say this more clearly. How many times are we talking about different crisis situations? We have moved from Afghanistan, Taiwan, China, Ukraine, the Balkans . . . and now we have Sudan. Look, Americans should really care about this. There are four peacekeeping operations via the U.N. in Africa alone. There are 12 peacekeeping operations total, but four of them are in Africa that are over a billion dollars each. What that means is the 1.5 billion dollars spent in Sudan means that the American taxpayer pays 420 million dollars a year to directly impact a stable Sudan. The leaders at the U.N., the leaders at the State Department, the Biden Administration are failing us. They are giving words again. Here we have a military coup in Sudan and the most we can get from the State Department is strong words of they are troubled and that this is unacceptable. That’s just not good enough. . . . This is the reason why we should care, because we have situations spiraling out of control because of the lack of leadership from the Biden team. . . . We are going to have problems around the world.

We are here to provide you with not only the news that makes headlines, like the monumental abortion cases, but also topics around the world that aren’t getting the media attention they deserve. These are important issues that the Left doesn’t want you to know about or care about. We will continue to monitor these issues and provide you with updates as they come.
