As the World Faces Serious COVID-19 Pandemic, Planned Parenthood and the Abortion Industry Remains Focused on Expanding Abortion

Even in the face of a global pandemic, where thousands of lives have been lost and hundreds of thousands have been infected, Planned Parenthood only cares about one thing: the right to kill innocent babies.

And while the focus should be on the treatment and prevention of COVID-19, aka the Coronavirus, Planned Parenthood is DOUBLING DOWN on its promise to spend tens of millions of dollars during this election year to support the election of abortion-friendly candidates, defeat pro-life laws, and expand extreme abortion across the country.

At the beginning of this year, the abortion juggernaut announced that it was setting aside $45 million dollars to support pro-abortion candidates and fight pro-life laws, and even in a global health crisis, it is not backing down.

Planned Parenthood just tweeted:

From now until November, this is the goal: we must defeat Donald Trump. In a time when the country is feeling the drastic effects of Trump’s attacks on health care, we need a leader who will expand access to repro health care, not one who undermines it. #WeDecide2020

During a pandemic, where it’s all medical hands on deck, Planned Parenthood (which likes to claim it’s a health care provider) has one “goal,” “expand access to repro health care” – read: Our number one goal is to expand abortion. Period.

While the rest of us practice “social distancing” and other medical facilities are stopping non-essential procedures to flatten the curve – in order to reduce potential spreading of the Coronavirus – Planned Parenthood’s priority is making sure its abortion clinic doors stay open and its multi-million-dollar business of aborting babies continues undisturbed.

It’s disturbingly clear that Planned Parenthood has zero regard for the protection of human life, at any stage.

And it’s not alone. One abortion clinic, Maine Family Planning, felt it imperative at a time when people needs facts and information about the Coronavirus to tweet:

At this time, all 18 Maine Family Planning clinics continue to provide essential sexual and reproductive health services to patients during the #COVID19 pandemic . . . YOU CAN STILL GET BIRTH CONTROL & ABORTION CARE at all Maine Family Planning sites.

In addition, the National Abortion Federation (NAF) – which claims to represent “approximately half” the abortion clinics in the U.S., including “Planned Parenthood affiliates” – released a statement demanding that elective abortions be allowed to continue during this crisis, calling them an “essential health service.”

As states and municipalities enact measures to slow the spread of COVID-19, more non-essential businesses will be instructed—or required—to close. At the same time, hospitals are preparing for a surge in COVID-19 cases and increased strain on their staff, resources, and systems, and will likely begin indefinitely postponing non-essential or elective procedures. During this public health crisis, pregnancy care, including abortion care, remains an essential health service. The National Abortion Federation (NAF) calls on leaders to ensure that outpatient abortion clinics can remain open and urges hospitals to continue to provide abortion care.

This is sick. It's almost as if they know abortion will be considered non-essential – BECAUSE IT IS – and are trying to get out in front of the issue with more abortion distortion.

And sure enough, states and localities are bowing to the abortion industries’ demands quickly clarifying that “abortion” is in fact “essential” care and must be allowed to continue regardless of the ongoing dangers of this pandemic.

For example, after the Massachusetts Office of Health and Human Services issued an order that hospitals were to only perform “essential” medical treatment and procedures in order to help fight the spread of COVID-19, the director of the Massachusetts Bureau of Health Care Safety and Quality then released a memo claiming abortion does not fall under the “nonessential” classification.

The memo, which can be found on the state’s official website, states:

DPH defines nonessential, elective invasive procedures as procedures that are scheduled in advance because the procedure does not involve a medical emergency; provided, however, that terminating a pregnancy is not considered a nonessential, elective invasive procedure for the purpose of this guidance.

It is disturbing and absolutely wrong that killing unborn children, which is what abortion is, could remain a priority and that states would so easily capitulate to the abortion lobby while we are facing a global health crisis.

At the ACLJ, our work defending unborn babies does not stop – even in the middle of a public health crisis. While we’re taking precautions to keep our own team safe and prevent further spreading of the Coronavirus, we are actively working to fight Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry’s attempt to expand abortion and to support pro-life laws across this country.

We are directly involved in major lawsuits against both the National Abortion Federation and Planned Parenthood over the harvesting and sale of aborted babies' body parts.

As we’ve told you, our legal team is preparing to appeal the outrageous jury verdict that awarded millions of dollars to Planned Parenthood, after pro-life journalists exposed the ghoulish practice.

We cannot allow Planned Parenthood and abortion lobby to seize on this moment when everyone is concerned and distracted by the very real health crisis affecting us. We already told you how Speaker Nancy Pelosi tried to slip abortion funding into a Coronavirus relief bill. Thankfully, with the support of our members, we reacted quickly and defeated it.

The ACLJ will continue to be vigilant.

No matter what is going on around us, we will not for one moment turn our attention away from the countless precious unborn babies whose very lives depend on us.
