We’ve been saying it for years – Planned Parenthood lies, was founded on racist and eugenic ideologies, targets African Americans, and is evil. Now, Planned Parenthood employees themselves are admitting to and calling out those same facts.
On June 18, 2020, current and former staffers of Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) jointly signed an open letter accusing the CEO of PPGNY, Laura McQuade (picture-right), of being “a toxic leader and autocrat.” As of June 19, nearly 300 current and former staffers had signed the letter which, among other things, calls for the immediate removal of Ms. McQuade.
Moreover, the letter goes on to reveal that Ms. McQuade “created a culture of fear and intimidation” within Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliate. The employees also claim that “constant public scrutiny perpetuates a culture of silence within” Planned Parenthood, which “has allowed . . . leadership to stoke fear that public expression of internal dysfunctions might threaten access to [abortion].”
Current and former staff members state that they have “witnessed McQuade yell, berate, slam her fists, verbally abuse, humiliate, and bully employees, often brutally shaming staff members in internal meetings in front of their colleagues.” They further claim that McQuade used her position to “distribute . . . highly-paid contracts and consultant opportunities to close contacts.”
None of this is at all surprising to anyone who has been paying attention to how Planned Parenthood operates.
Over and over again we’ve seen corruption, mistreatment, lies, and all sorts of ugly actions committed by Planned Parenthood (not to mention the murder of preborn babies), and over and over again we’ve seen Planned Parenthood – with the generous assistance of the mainstream media – “cover up” its issues. Now, Planned Parenthood has become so toxic that it is turning on itself.
What is shocking is that the letter also exposes the racist and eugenic background of its founder, Margaret Sanger; a fact that Planned Parenthood has continually and conveniently overlooked and even defended. The letter states:
Planned Parenthood was founded by a racist, white woman.
Correct. Yet, for years, Planned Parenthood awarded its “highest honor, the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Margaret Sanger Award . . . to recognize leadership, excellence, and outstanding contributions . . . .” The Margaret Sanger award has been given to women such as Nancy Pelosi and Hillary Clinton.
However, employees are now fed up with the hypocrisy of Planned Parenthood and its reverence for Margaret Sanger:
We know that Planned Parenthood has a history and a present steeped in white supremacy,” and “[a]fter years of complaints from staff about issues of systemic racism, pay inequity, and lack of upward mobility for Black staff, highly-paid consultants were brought in three separate times to assess the situation. Each time, employees of color were brutally honest about their experiences, but nothing changed.
As ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchison, detailed recently in his article, “The Deliberate Targeting of African America Lives by Margaret Sanger, Planned Parenthood, and Progressives”:
According to the Guttmacher Institute, black women are more than 5 times as likely as white women to have an abortion, as almost 1,900 African American babies are aborted every day in the United States. Chillingly, as part of its strategy to maximize profits and its return on investment, “79 percent of abortion-offering Planned Parenthood facilities are within walking distance of black or Hispanic neighborhoods.”
In a recent concurring opinion upholding an Indiana law requiring the human disposal of aborted babies, Justice Thomas similarly noted that “[e]ight decades after Sanger’s “Negro Project,” abortion in the United States is also marked by a considerable racial disparity.”
So, not only does Planned Parenthood target the African American community for abortion, they also mistreat and underpay their African American employees. Again, unsurprising. After all, it would be ridiculous to expect an organization that profits from the killing of innocent babies to stand as a beacon of virtue. Yet – since its founding – Planned Parenthood has tried to do just that.
We live in interesting times, yet the truth will always be revealed, and it is always right to act justly and to serve as a voice for the voiceless and oppressed.
