Biden Administration Makes the Keystone Cops Look Organized
I don’t know if you noticed it or not, but the President of the Republic of Korea was in Hawaii recently personally escorting the remains of U.S. servicemen who died during the Korean War back to their homeland. That was an exhibition of real class and showed genuine respect for the sacrifices made by American soldiers on behalf of South Korea during the Korean War.
That level of respect by a foreign Head of State on American soil should have been met with an equal measure of respect and appreciation on the part of the United States. In past Administrations, either the President or the Vice President would have personally attended such a gesture of respect, but not in this Administration. Both President Biden and Vice President Harris were AWOL. They didn’t even have enough class to send the Secretary of State or the Secretary of Defense to express our appreciation to President Moon.
Instead, the four star admiral commanding the Indo-Pacific unified command headquartered in Hawaii did the honors. I don’t mean to demean the admiral in any way, but he’s nowhere near the top of the political pecking order of this Administration. President Moon had to have noted the significant slight in protocol, which was not just a slight to him personally but to the country he represents, a reliable U.S. ally in East Asia.
President Biden made a lot of promises during his campaign for the presidency. One was to rebuild ties with our allies. This is hardly the best way to go about it. On this issue—like so many others—this Administration gets an F.
I wonder what was more important for the President and Vice President at the moment. The Afghan fiasco doesn’t seem to be high on their list of priorities. In fact, given the issue of persons left behind, Administration officials are going out of their way to change the subject on Afghanistan. Neither does the crisis at our southern border. The President hasn’t visited the border, and the Vice President visited El Paso one time, a city hundreds of miles from where the vast majority of illegals were crossing the border and where the crisis was most evident.
The President did have time to insult our ally France by failing to consult—or even notify—French officials before announcing a submarine deal with the UK and Australia.
President Biden has been an abysmal leader by every measure. Further, Vice President Harris has proven to be either incapable or at least uninterested, as our nation faces crisis after crisis. She’s been appointed the “border czar,” so to speak, but has done nothing—NOTHING—of value to resolve the problem. Her trip to Central America resulted in her being lectured to by a foreign head of state who informed her that the current problems were of the Biden Administration’s own making. He was absolutely right, but she still doesn’t seem to get it.
Until this Administration leaves office, I fear that the country will become increasingly vulnerable to mischief makers around the world, including the Chinese, the Iranians, and the North Koreans.
I’ve read that the President has apologized to President Macron of France for failing to consult the French about the submarine deal. I’ve yet to hear whether he’s done so with President Moon. My fear is that nobody in this Administration even recognized the slight, and that says more than anything else about how inept and amateurish this Administration truly is.
