Radical Left

In a preposterous attack on the conservative agenda, the radical Left is trying using the COVID-19 crisis to call for the abolishment of the American family.

At a time when so many are clinging to their loved ones for support and encouragement more than ever, the Left is trying to capitalize on this unprecedented moment in history to tear down traditional values.

A new article posted on an extreme Leftist website called openDemocracy – an organization funded by notoriously liberal billionaire George Soros – claimed that the Coronavirus recommendations to shelter-in-place at home is actually dangerous and that now is the time to “abolish the family” and private home ownership.

According the author of the incendiary article:

In short, the pandemic is no time to forget about family abolition. In the words of feminist theorist and mother Madeline Lane-McKinley; “Households are capitalism’s pressure cookers. This crisis will see a surge in housework – cleaning, cooking, caretaking, but also child abuse, molestation, intimate partner rape, psychological torture, and more.” Far from a time to acquiesce to ‘family values’ ideology, then, the pandemic is an acutely important time to provision, evacuate and generally empower survivors of – and refugees from – the nuclear household.

The article goes on to attack the traditional, so-called “nuclear family” and calls our familial homes “unsafe spaces:”

Nuclear households, it seems, are where we are all intuitively expected to retreat in order to prevent widespread ill-health. ‘Staying home’ is what is somehow self-evidently supposed to keep us well. But there are several problems with this, as anyone inclined to think about it critically (even for a moment) might figure out – problems one might summarize as the mystification of the couple-form; the romanticizing of kinship; and the sanitization of the fundamentally unsafe space that is private property.

This is a disgusting attack on traditional family values by the radical Left. It is unwarranted and unjustified assault at a time when so many are worried and uncertain about the future.

It also bears mentioning that openDemocracy patron George Soros contributed financial support to the anti-Semitic Carter Center which we told you contributed resources to known terrorist group Hamas.

The call to abolish the family is just tragically sad. Many believers hold to the idea that we were literally and specifically created for these relationships; the relationship with our Creator, and then the relationships we forge with our families.

Yes there are families that breakdown and we must hold them up in prayer, and work to prevent the instances of domestic violence that this author disingenuously attempts to hang over all families as an argument to do away with the very convention of “the family.” But these instances are actually an anathema to the idea of what family is and are the minority. They are not a fair or true indictment. As believers and loving families under God, we must help these broken families, and hold them up in prayer. Not destroy the family as a whole.

But in reality, that’s not even the true motivation of this troublesome article. While shrouded in an attack on moral values, this author does reveal her true cards; namely that the advancement of a socialist, and apparently, communist agenda. She literally calls for an end to private property.

In L.A., state officials are providing individual trailers and pop-up isolation cabins for the houseless. But a far more logical response might be: open all the hotels and private palaces on the basis of airy and light-filled, sanitary (uncommodified) housing for all. Free all prisoners and detainees now, remake the care facilities as spacious self-led villages, and dismiss all the workers with full pay so they can leave their bunks forever, move in with their friends, and pursue laziness for at least the next decade.

Sorry comrade, but this is not what America was founded on. Similar actions have been attempted in other countries throughout history, and they have never been successful. Nor have they ever led to a safe, secure society. That philosophy only leads to anarchy, poverty, and suffering.

And it certainly won’t do anything to combat the COVID-19 virus.

Now more than ever we must rely on our faith, and on our families, even the members we currently have to keep our physical distance from, to get through this challenging time, and reach the light on the other side. I would offer it’s even possible that families will come out stronger and closer as a result of this moment.

Imagine how much more difficult this crisis would feel, without the love of our family to keep us going.

The ACLJ will stand against any attacks on the American family and traditional, conservative values. We will also continue to pray for all American families during this catastrophe, and that includes this author – and any others who might share her feelings – who sadly seems to not know the value of family love.
