The American Center for Law and Justice has just launched a new initiative.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we discussed the ACLJ’s new School Choice Initiative and discussed how you can get involved.

We are really excited about this new initiative. It’s one we’ve worked on for years — in fact decades — including working on school choice cases at the Supreme Court. We’ve filed an amicus brief in a case that’s pending right now at the Supreme Court. It’s the Espinosa case. We should get a decision from the Supreme Court very soon. Again, this is not something brand new to us.

In light of the recent events of the last few weeks, the need for police reform and Senator Scott’s JUSTICE Act that we're supporting, we wanted to look at what the ACLJ could do as an initiative to assist in improving the education system. Our School Choice Initiative is about justice and equality, issues in which we can make a substantive difference.

ACLJ Director of Government Affairs Thann Bennett made the following point:

One of the things you are going to hear from parents the most frequently, is a parent wants to provide a better opportunity for their child than maybe they had. The opportunity to get an education that is better than they had is at the top of that list. For so long that has not been the case for parents of children residing in low income districts. We understand that many of these decisions are made on a local and state level, and probably appropriately so, but when you have a situation where the poorest among us cannot afford or do not have the opportunity to get the education of those who are living in zip codes that are more affluent, that has got to change. There are ways the federal government can support it. Yes, most of those decisions will reside in the state and local level, but it should not matter which zip code a child is born in in the United States of America.

The parent should still have the opportunity to make sure that child gets the education they deserve. There are a lot of ways that we can accomplish that goal.

The way you can take action right now is to sign our petition and share the work we are doing with your friends and family.
