(Washington, DC) - The American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ) today applauded the action taken by the U.S. Senate to confirm Judge Neil Gorsuch for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, filling the vacancy created by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia.

“Justice Gorsuch exemplifies everything a good judge should be, realizing it’s his job not to be a legislator, but to take the cases and controversies as he finds them and apply the Constitution and the law to them,” said Jay Sekulow, Chief Counsel of the ACLJ, who has appeared before the Supreme Court in numerous cases. “We urged the Senate to follow tradition and give the American people a voice in selecting the next Supreme Court Justice. The American people spoke at the polls. The President kept his promise and nominated a rock solid conservative to the Supreme Court. The Senate did its job – following the Constitutional option – and confirmed the President’s pick – the people’s choice. Today the Constitution won – the rule of law won – and the American people won.”

The ACLJ launched a national media campaign to advocate for the confirmation of Judge Gorsuch. The ACLJ has more than one million members and utilized radio, television, online and social media to urge the Senate to act without delay to confirm Judge Gorsuch. Nearly 245,000 people signed on to an ACLJ petition demanding his confirmation.

Led by Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), focusing on constitutional law, is based in Washington, D.C.
