Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham joined the show today ahead of next week’s critical hearings.

On today’s Jay Sekulow Live, we were joined by Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Lindsey Graham to talk about the upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Judge Amy Coney Barrett which are scheduled to begin on Monday. The Senator also reiterated his praise for her qualifications to be a Supreme Court justice.

Senator Graham, who will be chairing the confirmation hearings, joined us on the broadcast and here’s what he had to say about the hearings:

Monday is the introduction day. Every Senator gets ten minutes to talk about their feelings about the judge and the nomination. That will take a while. We’ll have a panel that will introduce Judge Barrett. I think you’ll be very impressed with the people who do the introduction. And then she will get to speak. So Monday should be a relatively short day compared to the other days. Tuesday, she submits herself to thirty minutes of questioning by each Senator and there’ll be twenty minute second rounds. So that’s Tuesday and Wednesday. Thursday, we’ll begin the markup process. We’ll hold it over a week, consistent with the rules of the Senate Judiciary Committee, and we’ll report her out on October 22nd. I’ve talked to [Senator] Tillis. I’ve talked to [Senator] Lee. They’re in good shape. We’re pressing on with the hearing and as the intro said, I am excited about the country seeing this incredible woman, Judge Amy Barrett and her knowledge of the law and her disposition.

My dad, ACLJ Chief Counsel Jay Sekulow, made the following point about Judge Amy Coney Barrett:

I think it’s a tremendous pick. She’s a tremendous jurist. She’s a well-known law professor. I just think overall, just a great move.

The confirmation hearings begin Monday and we’ll, as always, bring you all the developments.

We also discussed Speaker Nancy Pelosi pushing a bill that if passed would empower a commission appointed by Congress to essentially remove a President from power utilizing the 25th Amendment.

It’s obvious what she’s doing. The Speaker is laying the groundwork for what we call Impeachment 3.0. It’s a total abuse of power.

The 25th Amendment and the laws that have emanated from it say that it’s up to the Cabinet to make that decision, but then Congress can decide if they want to make additions. But this kind of manipulating of the Constitution is very dangerous.

They want to set up a commission to analyze the President’s capabilities to perform his duties, due to his COVID-19 diagnosis, and that is a very slippery slope.

The full broadcast is complete with a much fuller discussion with Senator Lindsey Graham and analysis by our team of the upcoming confirmation hearings, as well as more analysis by our team of this latest stunt by Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
