The Biden Administration continues to show no response when it comes to showing support for our neighbors fighting for freedom.

Back in 2009 during the Green Revolution in Iran, Iranians took to the street to protest the murderous regime in Tehran. The Obama-Biden Administration did nothing at the time to show their support for the Iranian people who were crying out for freedom and liberty. Fast forward to 2021, Cubans are taking to the street to protest the oppressive communist regime in Havana.

What is the Biden Administration doing? Once again, nothing. We should be standing in solidarity with the brave Cuban protestors, offering support as they fight for freedom and liberty – our God-given rights.

ACLJ Senior Counsel for Global Affairs Mike Pompeo has examined this issue in his new article and discusses what the American response to the Cuban protests should be, when thus far, we’ve seen a tepid response at best:

I think tepid is actually pretty generous. It hasn’t really risen to any significant level of attention. The uprising of Cuban people demanding for freedom should be met with real American action. There are half a dozen things we could do. . . . We could begin to build out a set of diplomatic strategies that would encourage the Cuban leadership to say that your time has come and it’s time to leave. We will make sure you get a safe exit, but we will get you to a place where the Cuban people could have the freedom they so richly deserve. We should be relentless in talking about communism and its evil and all the horrors that it has inflicted upon the Cuban people. We should be doing that not only to the American audience, but to audiences all around the world and building a coalition to support freedom for these people who want nothing more than to live their lives and practice their faith . . . .

The Obama-Biden Administration abandoned the Iranians during the Green Revolution. Now, we have the same situation taking place as they are not responding to Cuban protestors. When former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was asked, what is the message we are sending globally to our allies or places that are seeking freedom and liberty within tyrannical regimes when we do nothing, he responded:

I so wish that this happened in Cuba a year ago when President Trump and I were running American foreign policy.  We understood that the world was watching how America reacted when freedom loving people simply demanded to get their lives back. . . . I promise you that freedom fighters and parts of the world can see this, and they are discouraged from doing precisely what the Cuban people did because the American leadership wouldn’t rally alongside them.

ACLJ Senior Military Analyst Wes Smith commented on the failed response from the Biden Administration:

One of the things that I find alarming about the Biden Administrations response in a number of areas is that they seem very soft and naive on the whole issue of terrorism. . . . Our southern border is porous . . . we have had people cross the border that we have caught – we don’t know how many we did not catch – who are on the terrorist watch list. Yet, the Biden Administration seems totally nonplussed by that. . . .  In March, he took . . . the Houthi rebels off the terrorism list. They have been on there for a long time. They were on the terrorism list under President Obama as well as President Trump. But he took them off of that. Then you get to Iran, there is this delusional idea I think by President Biden and his team that somehow if we lift sanctions and we will “help” Iran that they will become more like us and they will be good partners. That is not only naïve – that is dangerously naïve.

America needs to stand up with full force and show our support for these protestors. The world is watching, and we need to send a clear message to the Cuban communist regime. We hope President Biden will stand with the people of Cuba in their desire for freedom and liberty.
